Our other new friend from yesterday who introduced himself as Herman ze German. Very nice man mit den grossen rooksack und die dodgy stomach. Can't have been zat dodgy a stomach as he decided his toilet roll didn't fit in his exceedingly grossen rooksack so he left it behind. Never mind - we packed him off with the hundredweight of nuts and raisins we'd collected over the last few days of provided box lunches hopefully he made it to his next refugio.
He sounded just like the large green caterpillar from A Bugs Life as well. I wonder how many stereotypical English traveller abroad things we are conforming to-best not think about that!
He did confess that his name wasn't really Herman but it was easier for people to remember. This was quite disappointing.
We have just learnt that somone Martyn used to work with 10 yrs ago is in Punta Arenas at the mo - we're on our way back there now so maybe we will meet up. Small world. In the meantime more giggly memories of good old Herman.
